2:00 pm: -Admissions guided tour of Howard University 2400 Sixth Street, NW, Suite 105 Washington, DC 200591 202-806-2700
3:30 pm: The National Archives building Plan on spending at least 60 minutes viewing a 11-minute introductory film in the McGowan Theater and visiting three exhibit galleries - the Lawrence F. O’Brien changing exhibit gallery, The Public Vaults permanent exhibit gallery, and the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom - home of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. 4:30 pm: Arrive in Washington D.C. Walk across the great lawn to visit the following: Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Memorial, US Capital, MLK Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial where this V-shaped black granite wall, designed by Maya Ying Lin, then a 21-year-old student at Yale University. The 500-foot wall, intended as a symbol of healing, is inscribed with the names of the 58,192 people killed or missing in the Vietnam War, and is now one of the most cherished monuments in the United States.
7:30 pm Dinner @ Baltimore Inner Harbor on your own : Hard Rock Café Spend your free time this evening enjoying a fabulous dinner at the world renowned Hard Rock Cafe restaurants. Also enjoy the museums and shops of Inner Harbor’s two pavilions. 12:30 PM The White House Arrive at the White House, where, from the south lawn (where the annual Easter Egg Hunt takes place!), you can take photographs of the most recognizable residence in the United States. 1:00 – 2:00pm Chaperones will choose from 1 of 3 activities listed below for their students Enjoy Lunch at your own expense (with assigned chaperone).
U.S. Supreme Court Be awed by the imposing white-marble Supreme Court building, where the nine justices of the nation’s highest court convene to hear oral arguments and rule on cases that affect the course of law in the United States. Twenty students will hear oral arguments before the US Supreme Court Justices @ 10:00 am Afterwards students will take a tour of the courthouse museum. The Department of the Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing You'll see millions of dollars being printed during a tour of the BEP. The tour features the various steps of currency production, beginning with large, blank sheets of paper, and ending with wallet-ready bills! As the U.S. Government's security printer, the BEP is responsible for the design, engraving and printing of all U.S. paper currency. A world leader in printing technology, the Bureau also produces portions of U.S. passports, materials for Homeland Security, military identification cards, Immigration and Naturalization Certificates, White House invitations, Treasury obligations and other U.S. securities. The Smithsonian Institution Welcome to the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest museum and research complex with 19 museums and galleries, the National Zoo, and many research centers. We have more than 136 million objects — and we're adding more every day! 2:00 PM Visit our Congressman’s congressional office: Visit your locally elected House of Representative’s office and take pictures with the member on the steps of the Capital Building all students will tour the US Congress
